About SLT Addiction Treatment
Our Story
SLT Addiction Treatment was established in 2005 by a coalition of addiction medicine specialists who saw an unmet demand for premier, accessible recovery services in California's capital. Beginning with just 20 beds in a converted medical office near the Sacramento River, the founders built a culture of clinical excellence and personal accountability that attracted patients from across the Sacramento Valley and beyond.
Over 21 years that original vision has grown into the region's most comprehensive addiction treatment campus. Today our 64-bed facility is supported by 132 professionals and has guided more than 13,800 people through recovery. We have developed specialized tracks for state and government employees, first responders, and Spanish-speaking families — reflecting the unique demographics of Sacramento and the surrounding capital corridor.
Under Executive Director Dr. Marcus Hendricks, SLT Addiction Treatment continues to set the standard for substance use care in Northern California. His focus on integrating the latest neuroscience with time-tested therapeutic practices has positioned the facility as a model that peer organizations across the state look to for guidance.
Our Mission
SLT Addiction Treatment is dedicated to providing the highest caliber of addiction medicine in Sacramento and the greater capital region. We identify and treat the underlying drivers of substance use disorder through individualized, evidence-based care — equipping every patient with the knowledge, skills, and support network necessary for lifelong sobriety.
Rooted in Sacramento's diverse community and strengthened by our proximity to the state's governing institutions, we hold ourselves to the strictest standards of clinical integrity. Recovery at SLT is a collaborative endeavor between expert clinicians, fellow patients, and the families whose involvement makes sustained healing possible.
Treatment Philosophy
At SLT Addiction Treatment, we approach addiction as a chronic medical condition requiring expert intervention — never as a moral shortcoming. Our treatment framework is built on three foundational commitments:
- Science-Driven Protocols: Our clinical team deploys Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, motivational enhancement, and medication-assisted treatment — each validated by peer-reviewed research and continuously measured against patient outcomes data gathered over 21 years of operation.
- Integrated Mind-Body Restoration: Recovery extends well beyond talk therapy. We incorporate nutritional rehabilitation, supervised exercise, trauma-sensitive yoga, and mindfulness meditation to rebuild the physical and emotional reserves that addiction erodes. This comprehensive approach cultivates the deep resilience necessary for enduring sobriety.
- Individually Engineered Care Plans: Every patient who enters our Sacramento campus undergoes an exhaustive biopsychosocial assessment. The resulting treatment blueprint honors personal history, co-occurring conditions, professional obligations, and family dynamics — ensuring that no two recovery plans look alike.

Testimonials
"Walking through the doors of SLT was the hardest thing I have ever done, but the staff made me feel safe from the very first hour. The residential program gave me structure I desperately needed, and the aftercare planning ensured I did not fall apart once I went home to Elk Grove. I cannot overstate how much this place along the Sacramento River meant to my recovery."
"I tried three other facilities before SLT Addiction Treatment, and none of them addressed my depression alongside my substance use. The dual diagnosis program here changed that completely. For the first time, a clinical team treated both issues as one connected problem. The psychiatric support combined with daily therapy gave me tools I actually use every single day."
